DISAPPOINTMENT AT OUR RIO TEST EVENT

Dear partners and supporting friends,
With our silver medal in the World Cup harvested just two months ago we attacked this Olympic rehearsal week with full confidence.
 In order to secure our personal athlete qualification we had to place top 8, as requested by the Swiss Olympic criterion. Finally we had to settle for a 12th place, at 4 points of the Medal Race, and missing our team Olympic ticket by 9 small points.
Mistakes and "bad lucks" were analyzed and we now turn to the future.
We keep the motivation and pleasure to work harder to achieve our podium goal.
Securing our athlete Olympic ticket will be possible in February 2016 during the World Championship.

« IT WAS NOT OUR WEEK »
 12th rank...this result is far from our goal. Sometimes things do not always turn out the way we expected ... this week was an example. After a great race beginning with ranks of 3rd and 5th, we then accumulated small mistakes and big misfortunes: material breakdown when we were 4th, race cancelled when we were 2nd, tactical imprecision in the tidal stream, ... each point lost is paid cash at this Olympic level!
We tested the five Olympic racing zones, those outside of the Bay of Guarabana with wind waves and more constant, and those inside the closed bay with strong current and wind oscillating randomly. To familiarize ourselves with this very complicated and surprising Olympic water, we will still spend more time to better understand the mysteries of the winds and currents: next training in Rio is already scheduled for December.
 We could also practice the Swiss Sailing Team organization that will take place during the Olympics: a warm and welcoming house near the Marina da Gloria, healthy food, weather forecasting service, physiotherapy, excellent logistical support and good atmosphere ... congratulations to SST for this work!
After a few days of recovery, we will attack the preparation of the European Championship, taking place from 27 September to 4 October in Barcelona.
