Day 5:
Some strong breeze again today with freezing temperatures. We were sailing close to shore with 30° shifts and quite a lot of waves. After a good start, we took the correct shifts to round the top mark 3rd. We managed to keep a good position downwind, but unfortunatly we capsized at the bottom mark while rounding.
Not the best week for us finishing 11th. But an opportunity for us to try some new things...some of them were good, some of them not so much. But the right time to try ;)
Day 4:
Once again we had freezing temperatures, but with 14-20knots of wind we were able to build on what we learnt yesterday and despite not great starts in race 1 and 2 we sailed fast and tactically well and managed a 4th and 5th placing. In the final race we started well to be in the top group around the windward mark, unfortunately we miss-timed our gybe downwind and capsized. It was not the race it could have been, but overall we are happy with our day and our week of racing. Tomorrow we will have one final race without the top 6 who will compete the medal race.
Day 3:
Freesing temperature in Medemblik, 7-9° with 10-15knts of very shifting wind. We got a second OCS at the first race with a mistake of timing. Then two races with not accurated tactics which made us finish 11th and 9th. Not so happy with our day but we keep on fighting and working hard.
Day 2:
Average 25knts gusting 30knts. Our day is cancelled due to too much wind! See you tomorrow for more exciting races
Day 1:
A north westerly wind was blowing 10-15knts on our race course, with a lot, a lot of rain! And pretty cold.
Our first start was too risky and we got OCS (disqualified for starting over the line). The two other races, we managed to do 6th and 6th.
Happy with our speed upwind, but still not so confident on our downwind and little details. But we are working on it and can see improvment everyday. Provisional result here.
Eurosaf Champions Sailing Cup 21-25 May
19 catamarans Nacra17 arrived in Medemblik Holland for this 2nd Eurosaf cup of the season. 4 days of competition with a final race with the top 6 boat on Saturday.
We did 3 days of training quite intense with our coach Sebbe Godefroid and an other team from Spain Iker Martinez and Tara Pachegon. A good training group.
Just checking the anker ...
